9"x12" Graphite on smooth Strathmore Bristol This portrait represents a milestone for me. In 1988 I saw the portrait above at a science fiction convention. It simply blew me away. I purchased it at auction and spent a great deal of time studying it. For years it hung above my desk as a constant reminder of where I wanted to be some day. Over Thanksgiving I decided to see if I finally had the skills to duplicate it. All modesty aside, I think I did. The style is different, of course, but I think I've captured the likeness pretty well. I'm not completely satisfied - being a perfectionist is like that - but if I were to stop drawing tomorrow I'd feel I achieved the goal I set eighteen years ago. |

Our objective is to recognise deviants who deserve more recognition and to feature deviations with less than 10 original comments.
